We are representing the Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) and Payton McNabb to support USA Powerlifting in an appeal crucial to the integrity of women’s sports. The IWF, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding women’s options and opportunities, argues that allowing males to compete in female sports diminishes opportunities for female athletes both on the field and in scholarships.
Payton McNabb, an IWF ambassador and college student, suffered devastating injuries during a high school volleyball game when a male athlete spiked the ball into her head, causing a concussion, brain bleed, and severe head and neck injuries. McNabb continues to advocate for the protection of girls’ and women’s sports, highlighting the dangers of unfair competition.
In their request to file an amicus curiae brief, IWF and McNabb argue that the court of appeals correctly interpreted the Minnesota Human Rights Act and rightly recognized the legitimacy of sex-specific sports divisions to ensure fair competition. They emphasize that recognizing physical differences between men and women is common sense and crucial for maintaining the integrity of women’s sports.

This partnership underscores our commitment to supporting fairness and transparency in all aspects of the law, including the protection of women’s sports from unfair and potentially dangerous competition.
