UMLC Welcomes Summer Law Clerk Selene Cerankosky

We are excited to announce that Selene Cerankosky, is the newest addition to the Upper Midwest Law Center team! Selene is driven and passionate about fighting for freedom of speech and religion.

In 2021, Selene graduated from Robert Morris University, where she obtained her B.S. in Criminal Justice while being on the Dean’s List throughout all eight semesters. Outside of her coursework, Selene liked to keep busy during her undergraduate years as a research assistant; founder and leader of various organizations focused on civil rights, freedom of speech, and pro-life work; as well as an extern at the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office (Pennsylvania). She is now seeking her J.D. at George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School.

Selene’s continued pursuit of her passions brought her many exciting opportunities, such as admission into the Blackstone Legal Fellowship, volunteering as the Legislative Captain for Pennsylvania for Students for Life Action, and more. All this eventually led her to her current roles at Reprotection (Kentucky), Options Care Center (Virginia), and the UMLC, where she can continue the pursuit of justice and freedom for all.

What is special about Selene is her unquestionable passion for the fight for justice and freedom, as she has known she wanted to pursue a career in law since she was eight years old. Her desire has persisted since then, as she states “the largest factors that have gone into motivating me towards the law are my pro-life work and Church planting participation.”

Outside of work, you are likely to find Selene at the gym, if not at the next R&B concert in town.
